Carlsberg Malawi, a Group Castel-owned company, is a beverages only company comprising of 5 soft drink


s bottling plants, a distillery and a brewery. They are the leading producer and distributor of beverages in Malawi.

Being the only franchisee for Coca-Cola in Malawi, Carlsberg Malawi has a major share of the bottling industry in Malawi. Its inception came about with the establishment of Carlsberg Malawi’s soft drinks business in 1955, when the first Coca-Cola products were produced in the country under the company name Nyasaland Bottling Company. After Malawi’s independence in 1964, the company name changed to National Bottling Company and continued to produce and distribute sparkling beverages. The name National Bottling Company was later changed name to Southern Bottlers Limited and in 2011 adopted the corporate brand name - Carlsberg Malawi.
